About

Kyra Nelson (she/her) is an author, data analyst, former editor, and full-time nerd. Previously an academic, Kyra spent too many years in school studying linguistics and editing, with specific emphasis on fiction, reading, vocabulary, and research methodology. She is also a founding member and former board member of the Revise and Resub contest. While Kyra no longer edits professionally, she would be happy to refer anyone looking for services to one of her highly capable friends.

White woman with long brown, curly hair

In her free time, Kyra enjoys embroidery, baking, and hiking. Living in Utah gives her easy access to mountains, canyons, deserts, and red rocks, so there’s always something to explore. Recently, Kyra has also gotten into ttrpg, and can be found on a Masks actual play podcast, Wonder World Comics. Kyra lives with a feline companion known as Kat Brekker, who unlike his namesake is not clever but who is, like his namesake, a menace to society.

Kyra writes across a variety of genres, but is particularly drawn to stories that feature humor, romance, queer identity, banter, found family, friendship, shenanigans, and a sense of hope. She hopes her books will let readers experience big, sometimes hard, emotions—always with the assurance that everything will be okay. Kyra is represented by Nicole Eisenbraun and Ginger Clark of Ginger Clark Literary.
