About

My name is Kyra (pronounced with a long i, as in ice) Nelson. I am currently pursuing a PhD in linguistics from Northern Arizona University. I have an MA in linguistics and a BA in English language from Brigham Young University with minors in editing and English.

I’m a compulsive thing-doer. I like to be busy, whether it’s reading, writing, watching sports, playing violin, baking cookies, traveling, decorating cakes, or just goofing off with friends. I love adventure, even if it’s a small adventure like roasting Starbursts over the open flame of my stove top.

  2. Hi Kyra. I saw your #tenqueries Tweets today. I happen to have a finished manuscript that is Historical Fantasy set in ancient Persia. May I send you a query?
    Thanks!

  3. Hi Kyra! I want to thank you for the time and effort you’ve put into this site. This past fall, I read every one of your query critiques, and found them SO incredibly helpful. In the meantime, I wrote and rewrote (and rewrote again!) my own query, and started sending it out in December. Four weeks later, I have an agent. Joy! So, thank you again. This site REALLY helps.
